Parking
Parking Procedures: 2026-2027
To ensure all students have a fair opportunity to park on campus, Windermere High School is implementing a new reserved parking system. Parking is a privilege based on academic, attendance, and discipline standards.
Key Changes for 2026-2027
100% Reserved Spots: Every student is assigned a specific, numbered space. You must use only the space that matches your hanger number.
- Split Payments: Instead of $100 upfront, students pay $50 per semester.
- Online Process: Purchasing is primarily online. Priority is given based on grade level (Seniors first), attendance, and GPA.
- Summer Pickup: After paying online, students must visit the school during designated summer hours to turn in their Parking Agreement and collect their physical hanger.
- Handicap Spaces: Students with disabilities and a proper handicap parking permit may purchase one of the spaces near the PAC. Please e-mail Mr. Cox to let him know of the need.
Requirements for Approval
To secure or keep a parking spot, students must meet the following criteria:
Requirement Standard
- Academic: Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Attendance: Fewer than 15 full-day unexcused absences per semester (this is equal to 60 missed classes)
- Punctuality: Fewer than 20 tardies per semester (school and class combined)
- Discipline: No Level 3 or 4 referrals
Note: These requirements apply to all students, including those with Late Arrival, Early Release, Dual Enrollment, or OTC schedules.
How Absences are Counted
Per OCPS standards, missing individual classes adds up to full-day absences:
- Standard Schedule (7 classes): 4 unexcused class absences = 1 full-day absence.
- Modified Schedule (4 classes): 2 unexcused class absences = 1 full-day absence.
The Semester Renewal Process
Parking is reviewed at the end of the first semester:
- If you meet requirements: You may "renew" your spot for the second semester by paying the second $50 fee. You will receive a new hanger for the second semester.
- If you fail to meet requirements: Your parking privileges will be revoked. You will receive an email notification, and your spot will be reassigned to a student on the waiting list.
- Waiting List: Students on the waiting list who meet all requirements will be offered spots for the second semester as they become available.
Tips for Success
- Monitor Skyward: Check your attendance and grades regularly via the Student or Parent portals.
- 48-Hour Rule: If you are absent, late, or leave early, submit your doctor's note or paperwork to the Attendance Desk within 48 hours.
- Stay Informed: If you weren't at WHS for the full second semester of 2025-26, we will use your most recent full semester records for eligibility.
